This is a yard office based on a SP prototype (very loosely) that I worked out of at the end of my career. It is an interesting all metal building with a unique auto shelter at it's east end made from covered hopper lids! The model is all styrene with the usual Grandt stuff stuck on and some brass parts here and there. The roof ribs are 1/32" brass "Z" sections pretty close to the real building's ribs.
Underframe
The basic underframe came out of the fixture flat and square and cleaned up reasonably well with a mill file and sandpaper laying flat on the workbench. The end plates await a shipment of detail stuff from Grandt Line. There will be a lamination of styrene sheet
Side Frame
The completed side frame and equalizer patterns attached to a 1/8' sheet styrene plate that will serve as the bottom of the casting box.
Looks about right don't you think?
Be sure you bring the fire extinguisher if you use a torch. MDF burns!
Trucks
These are the still unfinished trucks with the NWSL 30 inch; replacement wheel sets. As of now it looks like NWSL is going to come through with 36 incht; proto 48er's !! hoorah! I intend to get rid of the metal hold down arms also. They are located about where they belong on the drawing of the engine.
